Tune-In to Learn: Charcoal & Deforestation - Emerging Cooking Solutions & Climate Change
June 7 @ 14:00 - 15:00
ID: 989 3438 5105
Nearly 10 million people in Zambia burn solid fuels such as wood and charcoal over open fires or in inefficient stoves for daily cooking. Over 50% of all wood harvested is used as fuel, and an estimated 30% of that wood fuel is unsustainable. This puts the deforestation rate at a staggering 250,000 to 300,000 per year – one of the highest in the world, according to UN statistics. Therefore we need to combat forest degradation through scalable interventions that cannot be ignored.
